First, Seek Him...

As we conclude this year’s “May You Pray,” let’s call on God to do the miraculous in our lives. Where in your life do you want to see God’s “incomparably great power” displayed? Are you diligently praying about this? Seek Him to do His mighty work today!

...Then Speak Him

Challenge those entrusted to you to pray big prayers! God is mighty and on His throne. Nothing is too hard for Him! Talk about this with those in your family, and then encourage those you love to pray for Him to do what only He can do! Speak Him today!

Ephesians 1:19-20a
“(And I pray…) his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead…”

Word

God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?

Sometimes we get bored in our faith and don’t give much thought to God’s great and mighty power. We look around and think this is all there is in life. However, our God is on His throne and actively working in the world. Paul prayed for his friends to experience God’s “incomparably great power” in their lives. “Incomparable” means that nothing else can be compared to it. We can join the Apostle Paul in praying for God to work this sort of power in our lives and in those we love. ~ Do you ever get stuck in a rut of boring faith? What’s boring about faith to you? Do you ever think about God’s power? Do you pray for it?

Why

God, why does this matter?

When we pray, we can say trivial prayers that don’t matter much OR we can pray for God to do what only He can do. God’s “incomparably great power” is what “raised Christ from the dead” – – – that’s some pretty powerful power! The word for “power” in this verse comes from the root word for “dynamite.” Like dynamite, God’s power changes everything, and we can pray for this. ~ Where in your life would you love to see God’s mighty power? Where do you need His power to work? Have you specifically asked Him for this?

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

God said, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27). If nothing is too hard for God, then why don’t we pray for Him to do the miraculous? Jeremiah said, “I prayed to the Lord: ‘Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you’” (Jeremiah 32:17). Let’s echo his prayer and pray for God to display His mighty power and strength in us! ~ Have you ever experienced a miracle from God? How would your prayers change right now if you really believed that nothing is too hard for God?

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

Paul prayed, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory…Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21). We can praise and pray this way, too! ~ Let’s pray for God to do “immeasurably more” in our lives. Let’s ask for His power to be displayed in us and in those we love. Let’s finish “May You Pray” by praying our theme verses Ephesians 1:16-20 over one another!
