Our God is seated on His heavenly throne and powerfully working in this world, so let’s pray for His mighty strength in our lives. WHAT: What is God saying through this Scripture?
Paul prayed for his Christian friends to experience God’s incomparably great power in their lives. The word “incomparable” means nothing at all can be compared to it. God’s incomparably great power is what raised Christ from the dead. That death-to-life power is what He’ll put to work in us who believe! ~ Do you ever get stuck in the rut of boring faith, and, if so, why? When was the last time you thought about God’s miraculous power? Have you ever experienced a miracle (and if so, what’s your story?)
WHY: Why does this Scripture matter?
God said, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27). No! Nothing is too hard for God! The word for power in our theme verse comes from the root word for “dynamite.” Like dynamite, God’s power changes everything. Truth is, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no one’s heart has imagined all the things that God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9 CJB). We want to pray like Paul and ask God to do His incomparable, unimaginable work in us. ~ Where in your life do you need God’s mighty strength: in a habit, addiction, issue, struggle, relationship or…? As you pray for others, where do you know they need God’s power to work in them? Jesus said, “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26); how should this affect your prayers?
HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth?
The prophet Jeremiah declared, “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you” (Jeremiah 32:17). Let’s believe God like this and boldly ask Him to do what only He can do! Let’s pray for Him to do the miraculous in us, through us, around us – – – then let’s be sure to watch and see what He does! ~ How does really believing God’s Word impact your prayers? What mighty things will you pray for by faith today? Spend a few minutes memorizing our final theme verse and say it with the other verses in prayer.
SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others!
Paul prayed, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory…Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21). Let’s pray big prayers like this! Let’s pray these prayers privately, but let’s also make sure we pray them in front of other people. As others hear us praise God for His miraculous, powerful work, they will be encouraged to begin to pray this way too! As God answers prayers, write down these stories so that you will be encouraged and inspired to keep praying throughout life! In Jesus’ Name, amen and amen!!!
