THE MENDING: How God Uses Us to Help Change the World

First, Seek Him...

As God changes us and makes us new, He sends us out into the world as ministers of His message of hope and healing. We don’t have to wait until we’re perfect to do this – – – He wants us to go as His ambassadors NOW! Who are you sharing His hope with today?

...Then Speak Him

People are broken and hurting all around us, and we have the greatest message in the world. We can share our stories of how God is changing us so that others can have this hope, too.

2 Corinthians 5:18b
“…Christ reconciled us to himself, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation…”

Word

God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?

True, lasting reconciliation – or, change – only comes from God, because reconciliation is His idea in the first place! He does “the mending” in our hearts and lives, and then He entrusts us with the “ministry of reconciliation.” This means we get to serve others and help them toward reconciliation, too! Reconciliation is an offer of hope, healing and encouragement in a very dark world. God calls out to people through us, inviting, summoning and comforting people to experience “the mending” just as we have. ~ As God changes us, we get to offer this hope to others. Who are you inviting into “the mending” in Jesus’ Name?

Why

God, why does this matter?

Our world longs for positive change, reconciliation and healing, but we are far from it. We can’t just “fix” ourselves, neither as people nor as a culture. However, as God reconciles and mends the pieces of our own hearts and lives, He sews into us the message of reconciliation to share with others. God wants the whole world to know that He loves us, is for us and wants to heal us through Jesus. ~ How is our culture trying to “fix” itself? Is this working? With whom does God want you to share His good news of hope and change?

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “We are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” To be an ambassador is to be a messenger. With the threads of change in our lives, we get to go into a broken world as messengers about the mending God offers everybody. This is how we multiply the mending:  sharing with others the power of God to heal and restore – and showing them how we have experienced it ourselves! ~ What does it mean to be an “ambassador”? How is God “mending” your life? Is this something you can share with others?

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

What a privilege that, as God changes our lives, mending and changing us through reconciliation, we get to go into our broken world with the message that change and healing is possible through Jesus. We are His ambassadors with the most important message in the world, and we worship Him by sharing this truth. ~ What an important opportunity and responsibility!

2 Corinthians 5:18b
“…Christ reconciled us to himself, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation…”
