Seek Him Speak Him – Part Three: Our Amazing Adventure
First, Seek Him...
God invites us to “Seek Him,” and, when we accept His invitation, we begin the amazing adventure of knowing Him better day by day. We can “Seek Him” through practicing the spiritual disciplines, so let’s talk about what it looks like to live this!
...Then Speak Him
God is looking for people who will “Seek Him” (Psalm 53:2). What’s more, Scripture says that God “rewards those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). So let’s be people who set our hearts on knowing Him better and practicing the spiritual disciplines every day!
Psalm 27:8
“You have said, ‘Seek My face.’ My heart says to you, ‘Your face, Lord, do I seek.’”
Word
God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?
God reaches out to humanity, inviting us to “Seek Him”! We get to choose how our heart will respond. If we accept His invite, our grand adventure begins as we get to know the God of the Universe. ~ Have you accepted God’s invitation to “Seek Him”? Describe how God has invited YOU personally to Seek Him.
Why
God, why does this matter?
Our hearts can be pulled in many directions. However, when from the depths of our hearts we determine, “Your face, Lord, do I seek,” this will affect everything about us: what we focus on, where we go, how we live, what we do, who we spend our time with, and more. ~ Is your heart determined to “Seek Him”? Why or why not? How has this decision affected your life?
What
God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?
Scripture describes so many ways we can reach back to God and “Seek Him.” These are often called “spiritual disciplines,” and they include: spending time in God’s Word, praying and listening for His voice. Spiritual disciplines also include participating in church and corporate worship. Fasting, retreating and spending dedicated time in His presence are other spiritual disciplines. Memorizing and meditating on His Word are also amongst the spiritual disciplines, as are serving people in Jesus’ Name and ministering to others for His glory and their good. ~ What are some spiritual disciplines that YOU do?
Worship
God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?
We can “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6). Let’s participate in this amazing adventure, practicing the spiritual disciplines, seeking God through our days and hours, for His glory and our good! ~ How shall we “Seek the Lord” right now?
Psalm 27:8
“You have said, ‘Seek My face.’ My heart says to you, ‘Your face, Lord, do I seek.’”
