It Starts with a Conversation

Most Important Things –
Hope

First, Seek Him...

What are you hoping for in life right now? We all hope for things along the way, but the Bible teaches the best hope is found in the Lord. God is good to those who hope in Him and seek Him. How are YOU doing this today?

...Then Speak Him

Talk to your family about hope. Get a conversation going about how hope in the Lord is different than just wishing for and looking forward to things. Don’t wait until you absolutely need hope to talk about it. Speak Him today!

Lamentations 3:21, 25
“This I call to mind and therefore I have HOPE…the Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him.”

Word

God, What Are You Saying To Me?

Discover:  God wants us to put our greatest anticipation – or, HOPE – in Him! True HOPE is looking forward to God doing what He promises He will do in our lives.

Dialogue: What are you “hoping” or wishing for right now? Is it okay to wish for good things? (sure is!) Is there anything you look forward to God doing in your life this year?

Dive In: The Bible says God is good to those who hope in Him and seek Him. How will you do this today? Let’s pray asking for God’s goodness, or favor, on us as we seek Him.

Why

 God, Why Does This Matter?

Discover: Life has good times as well as hard times. Sometimes the hard times take over our thoughts and fill us with fear, dread or discouragement. HOPE gives us confidence that God is at work in our lives even during painful seasons.

Dialogue: Talk about what may be hard in your life or in the lives of people you love right now. How is this affecting you?

Dive In: Google “God’s Promises Bible verses.” Which of these promises gives you hope right now? God made promises and will keep them!

“This I call to mind and therefore I have HOPE…the Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him.”

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

Discover: Our memory verse comes “Lamentations,” in which the prophet Jeremiah “lamented” – or, was really sad – over his peoples’ sin and suffering. Using all the Hebrew alphabet letters, Lamentations is a long, sad poem. However, in the middle of his painful poetry, Jeremiah shifted his perspective and “called to mind” his HOPE in God. He remembered who God is and what His promises are.

Dialogue: To “call to mind” means to remember. How has God been with you and helped you through a hard time in the past? How does this encourage you today?

Dive In: Let’s go through our alphabet and talk about our lives and what God has done for us. For instance, “A” is Almighty – He’s shown His power in a situation… “B” is for Bible – His Word encourages us… “C” is for…  How does remembering these things bring us hope?

“This I call to mind and therefore I have HOPE…the Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him.”

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

Discover: There are many things we may wish for this year, but to live with 20/20 perspective means to put our HOPE in Jesus. No matter what this year brings, we can believe His promises that He will take care of us as we seek Him!

Dialogue: Talk about how important hope is to you. Is it something you think about very often? What are some ways can you share hope with others who may not have it?

Dive In: Whatever happens this year, we can always have hope in the Lord because He doesn’t change, leave or go away. Let’s pray dedicating our lives to seek Him and hope in Him hope no matter what this year holds.

A Family Blessing

A Blessing from this Lesson to Speak over Those God has Entrusted to You!

“May you always ‘call to mind’ that God is good to those who put their hope in Him. May you always seek Him and then experience His promises and goodness as you do so along life’s way. In Jesus’ Name, amen!”
