Disciple Your Family about the Current National Crisis

It Starts with a Conversation

May You Pray- Then Watch and Wait!

May You Pray

First, Seek Him...

Each morning – yes, everyday! – God wants us to Seek Him. No matter what the circumstance, He wants us to come to Him – eager and hopeful for His response – even when His response feels delayed. As long as it takes, persevere and continue to seek Him through prayer.

...Then Speak Him

“Actions speak louder than words,” so the saying goes. What are your actions “speaking” to those around you about your own prayer life? How do you respond when you don’t get an answer right away? Will you keep praying until He gives you an answer? Be the example to those around you.

Psalm 5:3
“Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.”

Word

God, what are you saying to me?

Every day God wants us to bring our requests to Him then watch with anticipation for how He’s going to answer our prayers. Sometimes when we bring God our urgent requests, we want Him to answer us right away, but He asks us to “wait expectantly.” He wants us to confidently trust Him in the waiting. What does waiting look like? What requests are you still waiting for God to answer? Are you confidently expecting His answer as you wait? Let’s take this time to give these requests to Him again. Remember He wants us to bring them to Him “morning, noon and night” (Psalms 55:17)!

Why

God, why does this matter?

This verse is such a great reminder as we focus on prayer this month. It’s easy to forget that we need to be praying and trusting everyday for those “not yet answered” requests. As we wait, we build our trust with God. It grows our relationship with Him and reminds us of who He is. Let’s list some of God’s character traits that help us to trust Him while we wait on His answers to our prayers. (He is….faithful, kind, good…)

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

God promises, “When they call on me, I will answer” (Psalm 91:15). 1 John 5:14 says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.Do you truly believe that God will do what He says He will do? How do your actions and attitudes reflect your trust in Him? How might your prayer requests change if you prayed with this kind of confidence?

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

God wants us to bring Him all our needs, wants and things that make us anxious and afraid. It may not feel like it, but this is our act of worship! When we bring Him our worries and concerns, we are telling God “I trust You. I believe You know what is best for me”. Jesus said in Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it , and it will be yours. So let’s ask! And wait!

Psalm 5:3
“Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.”

A Family Blessing

A Blessing from this Lesson to Speak over Those God has Entrusted to You!

Lord, help us remember it is good for us to cry out to You at ALL times – then wait and watch with expectancy for Your answer. May we not get tired of waiting, but may we continue to come to You with confidence; trusting You are growing us as we wait for You to show us
