Love Story: Writing Great Chapters

First, Seek Him...

Your life is a story – – – is it a Love Story? God wants us to love in attitude and action through every page of our lives. Seek God about what real love looks like in your story today! Ask Him to help you write great chapters of love!

...Then Speak Him

As you consider what love really looks like in your life, talk to your kids about what it looks like in theirs. Love can and should be shown through more than cards and candy and more than just one week of the year. Get deep with your family about showing real love always!
1 Corinthians 13:4a, 6b-8a
“Love is patient and kind…Rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”

Word

God, what are you saying to me?

A great love story is filled with chapters of love, and 1 Corinthians 13 gives us lots of ideas for our chapters, starting with:  “Love is patient” – it waits for others; “(Love)…is kind” – it is a blessing to others; and “(Love)…rejoices with the truth” – which means it’s glad when lies are exposed and truth is revealed. How do patience, kindness or rejoicing with truth fit in the chapters of your story?

Why

God, why does this matter?

Life is difficult! It’s easy to love on Valentine’s Day, but it’s hard to love when things don’t go our way, we don’t get what we want, or others aren’t loving to us. However, God wants us to love not just in some chapters, but in all chapters, of our lives. With His love, we can “bear all things, believe all things, hope all things and endure all things.” These mean our love stories will be strong, faithful, hopeful and persistent. How have you loved this way even when it was difficult? Why did it matter?

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

How we live and interact with others can reflect Christ’s love. Philippians 2:14-15 says we are to “shine as lights in the world.” This week, how is your love a light so others can see and experience Jesus’ love through you? This kind of love is so much more than a Valentine card; it is a witness to God’s love for the whole world.

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

Our memory verse says that “Love never ends.” We live lives of worship as we practice love continually, beginning right now. How are we glorifying God through our love this week? What are some ways we can worship today that will show God’s love to others? Pick one way from our verse that you will show what love is today so that others will see Him in and through you.

1 Corinthians 13:4a, 6b-8a
“Love is patient and kind…Rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends”

A Family Blessing

A Blessing from this Lesson to Speak over Those God has Entrusted to You!

“Lord, we acknowledge we need Your help in loving others the way You have loved us. Your love for us is so great, and we want the chapters of our love story to reflect Your kind of love. May we be more intentional each and every day to love the way You have shown us to love. In Jesus’ Name, amen!”
