Listen to the Podcast
Psalm 119:111
“Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.”
Word
God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?
A heritage can be something you are given like an inheritance or it can be something you go find. With Scripture, a heritage is both! God gave us His Word so that we can know Him, and it’s our privilege and joy to seek Him through it. ~ Do you find joy through God’s Word?
Why
God, why does this matter?
The heritage of God’s Word lasts forever. Everything else in life fades away, but God’s Word has stood and will continue to stand the test of time. This being so, it is very purposeful to make His Word an important part of our daily lives. ~ Does God’s Word matter to you? How do you make it matter?
What
God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?
The prophet Isaiah wrote, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8). Jesus said: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away” (Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33, Matthew 24:35). ~ What do these verses tell you about the Bible?
Worship
God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?
Those who worship God treasure His Word. A special way to do this is to find a “life verse,” that is, a verse that is extra meaningful to you personally. A life verse can be a prayer, a praise, a proclamation, a promise or a passion. It can be any verse in the whole Bible that God especially lays on your heart. ~ Do you have a life verse? If not, start looking to find one this week!
Psalm 119:111
“Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.”
A Family Blessing
May you “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips (and) meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it…” (Joshua 1:8). In Jesus’ Name, amen!!!
