Lets Talk About… The Power to Do Good

Lets Talk Power to do Good

First, Seek Him...

Our nation is experiencing a very complex crisis, and sometimes we don’t know exactly where or how to make things any better. The truth is that God has given all of us the ability to do something for someone. Seek Him about what this looks like in YOUR life!

...Then Speak Him

As God works in your heart about how you can stop the hate and do good in Jesus’ Name, speak this into the lives of those entrusted to you. The next generation is watching you. Share your life and your story, and together use your “power to act.”

Listen to the Podcast

Proverbs 3:27
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”

Word

God, what are you saying to me?
God gives us power to act for the good of others, and He does not want us to hold back from using that power. We can all do something to help stop hate and act in love for somebody in need. Have you ever thought of yourself as “powerful” to do good? What does this look like in your life? Who needs us “to act” on their behalf right now? What are some simple ways we could do good for them today?

Why

God, why does this matter?
When hate rages in our home or community, we might be tempted to either join it or ignore it. However,  Jesus said, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you” (Luke 6:27-28). Jesus wants us to actively overcome hate with love and evil with good. He wants us to care about others and use our power to help them. Are we doing this? Is our family using our “power to act” in Jesus’ Name? Let’s share our stories about what this has looked like for us.

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?
When it comes to making a difference in others’ lives, sometimes we don’t know where to start. (Would you agree?) Galatians 6:10 says, “As we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Our brothers and sisters in Christ are the “household of faith.” Is there anyone in our church or Christian community who needs us to do good for them right now? We can use our “power to act” by loving them, doing good for them, blessing and praying for them. What opportunities might we have to do this today?

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?
God wants us to use our power to do good not every once in a while, but all the time. His Word encourages us, “See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone” (1 Thessalonians 5:15). We worship God by always seeking to do good for each other and for everybody. This is our “power to act.” How might our family do good for one another this week? Let’s do this and commit to be a family of action for the good of others, in Jesus’ Name.
Proverbs 3:27
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”
