In Everything: Glorify God

First, Seek Him...

Sometimes we’re tempted to think the little things in our lives aren’t a big deal. However, the truth is, every detail matters to God, from what we eat and drink to the holidays we do or don’t celebrate. Seek the Lord about how He would have you glorify Him in everything this week!

...Then Speak Him

This season and Scripture is an excellent opportunity to speak Jesus into the next generation. Don’t just do a holiday because everybody else does! Do what you do – and teach your kids to do what they do! – with intentionality and thoughtfulness, seeking to glorify God in everything.

1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,do all to the glory of God.”

Word

God, What Are You Saying To Me?

In everything, even in the little things, we can glorify God.

Discover:  God wants us to be people who glorify Him with our whole lives. Even what we choose to eat and drink can bring Him glory. No detail is too small! Glorifying God can be a part of every aspect of our lives.

Dialogue: To “glorify” means to honor and praise. How does something as simple as lunch or dinner glorify God? Tell a Jesus Story about how you’ve chosen to praise and honor God in a simple part of your life.

Dive In: An “infinitesimal” detail is a tiny detail that may seem insignificant but is not. Talk about some “infinitesimal” details in your life and how even these might glorify God.

1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,do all to the glory of God.”

Why

 God, Why Does This Matter?

“Live such good lives among the pagans that…they may see your good deeds and glorify God …” (1 Peter 2:12 NIV)

Discover:  Every detail of our lives matters to God. Sometimes we are tempted to think the little things in our lives aren’t a big deal – like whether we cheat on a test, tell a half truth or look at something bad on social media. However, the truth is, all of our lives matter to the Lord. We are a testimony about Him to a watching world.

Dialogue:  How does it feel to know that others are watching your behavior and listening to your words? Talk about a detail of your life that you haven’t thought about being in this category.

Dive In:  God wants us to be a testimony for Him in everything. Where will people be watching you today?

1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,do all to the glory of God.”

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16 CSB)

Discover:  The word “good” in Matthew 5:16 means what is so valuable and virtuous that people can’t help but notice. When we live for God’s glory, the details of our lives become spotlights pointing to Him.

Dialogue:  Scripture teaches that even little details like what we eat and drink can glorify God. These details don’t have to seem important to be important. Talk about some good, valuable or virtuous things in your life. (This isn’t bragging; telling about this is acknowledging the good that God is doing in and through you.)

Dive in:  Choose one “good work” that you can do today to give glory to God. What is it? What time today will you do it?

1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,do all to the glory of God.”

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

Every part of our lives is significant to God and ought to bring Him glory.

Discover:  Sometimes we think worshipping God is something we just do at church or when Christian music is playing. However, God wants us to glorify Him in ALL that we do.

Dialogue:  As the world celebrates a holiday, “whatever we do” in it must first be based on whether we can glorify God through it. Tell a story about when you’ve made a deliberate choice to glorify God one way when everyone else was going a different way.

Dive In:  How will glorifying God affect your decisions and actions this week?
