The Adventure Begins

The “Here I Am! Send Me!” The Adventure Begins

First, Seek Him...

As one season closes and we anticipate the new, God is calling people to live for Him. Will you do this? Will you live for Him as you walk into the unknowns of tomorrow? Let this discipleship conversation be a meditation about what He has for you in the days and year ahead.

...Then Speak Him

We don’t know the future, but we know who is calling us and what He thinks about us. This week’s discipleship conversation sets the stage for talking about Psalm 139, one of the most important chapters in the Bible. Let this spark meaningful conversations for you!

Isaiah 6:8
“I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.'”

Word

God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?

As one season closes and another begins, many things in life call out for our attention. If we listen, though, we’ll hear one really special voice:  the voice of the Lord. His voice calls us to live, not for ourselves, but for Him. When the prophet Isaiah heard God speak to him, Isaiah responded, “Here I am! Send me!” ~ What “noise” is in your life right now? Do you hear God speaking to you about anything? What?

Why

God, why does this matter?

We all listen to and follow something, and who we listen to and follow affects everything about us. We can follow our own desires, the crowd, social media, friends, politics, advertising, whatever. Or we can follow God. He calls us to live for more than ourselves, and He tells us the truth about our lives. ~ What are some things/groups/people that you follow? How are they influencing you? How does God want you to follow Him? Where is He sending you?

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

When God sends us, we can’t know exactly what is going to happen along the way. However, His Word speaks truth about us that we CAN know. From Psalm 139, we learn: “I am fully known, I am never alone, I am wonderfully designed, I am on God’s mind.” These four truths inspire us with confidence – – – a “knowing in the going.” So, when we say “Here I am! Send me!” we can know what kind of person God is sending! ~ We’ll talk about each of these truths in the coming weeks. For now, let’s read Psalm 139:1-18, 23-24 and then re-read this little poem. What type of person do YOU think you are? What kind of person does God say you are? Do these two views match or contradict? Which do you believe most?

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

This new year and season, we want to worship God by listening to Him and responding to His call. We don’t want to settle for average, boring lives. We have one life, and the Creator of the Universe is calling for people who will live it as adventure with and for Him. ~ Let’s pray and dedicate the coming year to Him! Let’s ask Him to talk to us in the coming weeks about who we are in Him and how He sees us!

Isaiah 6:8
“I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.'”
