THE “GIVE THANKS” SERIES
Convo #3: Grateful for God’s Goodness
I am a busy person, and I’m sure you are, too. We’ve all got a lot going on, especially as the holidays approach! Still, I’ve personally been so challenged to cease my busy-ness and follow God’s example of seeing His goodness. Scripture says He literally stopped after each day of Creation, looked at what He had made and “saw that it was good.” Thanksgiving seems the perfect time for us to do this, too! We may live in a broken world, but our God has been so kind. Listen to this podcast “How is it that Our God is So Good?” or dive right into the following conversation. We don’t have to wait until our plates are full to “Seek Him Speak Him” about all the good things He has done! Happy Thanksgiving friend! ~ Be encouraged ~ Tosha ❤️

Seek Him!
When God finished each day of creation, He stopped to observe the good things He had done. The question is: do we stop to see the good things He has done in our lives? Let this week’s devotion and discipleship conversation remind you to slow down and appreciate His goodness!
Word
God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?
Our God is a good God, and He is good in so many ways. He sees us, He knows us, and – He doesn’t just kinda sorta like us, He loves us! His love is “steadfast” which means it doesn’t change or go away, and He shows His love all over our lives. ~ Do you feel God’s love? Why or why not? Have you seen His goodness? If so, tell a story about how you have!
Why
God, why does this matter?
The way we view God affects our relationship with Him. If we see God as cruel or mean, we won’t want to be close to Him. However, if we believe that He is loving and good, then we will want to grow closer to Him. We will look for the good things He is doing in our lives, and this will give us more and more reasons to give Him thanks! ~ How do you view God? Do you see Him as good? Why or why not?
What
God, What else does your word say about this?
The goodness of God was first on display when He created the world. After each day of Creation, the Scriptures say, “God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:10, 12, 16, 21, 25, 31). Our God literally stopped to observe and appreciate what He had created. What a stunning example for us to slow down and appreciate the good things He’s done and the love He gives in our lives! ~ Why do you think God stopped to see what He had made? How often do we stop to observe the good things in and around our lives? What is one good thing we can observe right now?
Worship
God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?
Our theme verse is repeated multiple times in Scripture, and we can pick up this refrain, too, in our lives! We can give thanks to God and praise Him for His goodness by doing what He did: stopping and observing the good things He has done and is doing in our lives. ~ Are you a grateful, thankful person? How can you praise God for His goodness and love today?
Speak Him!
Once we “Seek Him,” we can “Speak Him” into the lives of the people God has entrusted to us. This is what discipleship is!
As you personally “Seek Him” about His goodness, turn around and “Speak Him” into the lives of those precious ones He has blessed you with! Take time to name His goodness in your life, having eyes to see all He has done and is doing! Enjoy these conversations!
