WHY IS EASTER SO IMPORTANT?
Easter Makes Our Jesus Stories Personal!

Easter Makes Our Jesus Stories Personal

First, Seek Him...

Witnesses provided crucial evidence for Jesus’ resurrection, just as our own testimonies evidence God’s work. Let’s seek Him and ponder our own personal Jesus Stories this week!

...Then Speak Him

Use the days around Easter to share your Jesus Story with those entrusted to you, talking about how you have seen and experienced Him in your own life. Speak Him today!

1 Corinthians 15:5-8
“And that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.”

Word

God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?

After Jesus’ resurrection, He didn’t just disappear. He appeared to many people, as well as to Paul, who testified, “He appeared also to me.” Each person had their own Jesus Story about how seeing Him alive impacted them. ~ How many people do you count in this passage? How many people’s testimony would it take for you to believe that Jesus came back to life? What is your personal Jesus Story?

Why

God, why does this matter?

Dead people don’t just start living again, but more than 500 people testified this is exactly what happened with Jesus. If Christ truly did come back to life, His resurrection changes everything about death and life and what truly matters. ~ If you got to interview some of these witnesses, what questions would you ask about their Jesus Stories? Do you think their testimonies would affect your faith?

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

Peter (called “Cephas” in this passage) later testified, “We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.” (2 Peter 1:16). Many who saw the resurrected, living Christ were so convinced about Him that their lives were changed, some even to the point of giving up their lives for Jesus. Sane, rational people don’t just give up their lives for an illusion or hoax; they must be convinced something is really important. This was true in ancient times, and it’s true today. ~ Have YOU been an “eyewitness” of Jesus’ majesty? How? What would convince you to follow Jesus? Do you follow Him?

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

At Easter our Jesus Stories can become ever more so personal as we join those who bear witness to who Jesus is. ~ How has Jesus impacted you? Will you share your Jesus Story?

1 Corinthians 15:5-8
“And that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.”

A Family Blessing
