WHY IS EASTER SO IMPORTANT?
Easter Celebrates the Details!

Easter Celebrates the Details!

First, Seek Him...

There are lots of important things in life, but for Christ followers, what is most important in our lives is the Gospel. In this conversation, let’s seek God about the details of what this means for our lives!

...Then Speak Him

As we fill Easter baskets and spend time with loved ones for the holiday, let’s make sure we keep the main thing the main thing:  the truth of the Gospel. Let’s talk about this over Easter lunch; let’s remind those entrusted to us of its importance. Let’s truly celebrate the Gospel!

Listen to the Podcast

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,”

Word

God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?

Paul wrote that “of first importance” is the message of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. These details are part of an early Church creed about the Gospel. As we walk from Good Friday to Easter Sunday, we celebrate Easter by remembering these. ~ Let’s each state the three details of the Gospel.

Why

God, why does this matter?

If the Gospel is true, then it should affect everything about us, including our celebrations. For Easter, this means that this holiday isn’t just about family, friends and fun, as great as these are. If the Gospel is true, then most significant at Easter is the reality of what Christ went through for each of us to experience salvation and relationship with Him. ~ What is most important to you at Easter? Why?

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

Multiple times, Jesus foretold His death, burial and resurrection, though these details were hard for His disciples to comprehend. After His crucifixion and burial, when the women went to His tomb, angels said: “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you…that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise. And they remembered his words…” (Luke 24:5b-8). Sometimes, we too need to be reminded of what Jesus said and did. Easter reminds us to remember and celebrate each detail! ~ Do you truly believe Jesus did what He said He would do? How does this affect you?

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

We can worship God by remembering Jesus’ words and the details of the Gospel. With this truth “of first importance” in our lives, we celebrate the real meaning of Easter, not just on a day or a weekend, but our whole lives long. ~ As you think about the Gospel’s details, what can you celebrate this Easter?

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,”
