1 Corinthians 6:18
“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.”

Word

God, what are you saying to me through this Scripture?

God tells us to “flee” or run away from “sexual immorality,” which is any sexual activity outside the boundaries God established. God made sexual boundaries, not to harm us, but to protect us. ~ What are some examples of sexual immorality? What do you think about these? According to 1 Peter 2:11 and Colossians 3:5, what does God think about sexual immorality? What does God’s Word say about marriage in Genesis 2:24 and Matthew 19:4-6?

Why

God, why does this matter?

God designed sexuality to affect the very core of our beings. Engaging sexuality outside of God’s boundaries creates scars. We literally hurt our own bodies when we are sexually immoral. The opposite of sexual immorality is sexual purity, which means we pursue sexuality the way God designed in marriage. Not only does this path honor God, it also blesses us and protects us from scarring ourselves. ~ Have you ever met a godly person who was glad for the sexual scars they could have avoided? What is the path of God’s blessing in your sexuality?

What

God, What Else Does Your Word Say About This?

Never ever in Scripture does God bless or promise to bless sexual immorality of any kind, at all. Instead, Scripture teaches, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We belong to God, and He wants our lives and bodies to be pure and holy for His glory and our good. ~ Do you believe God has your best interests in mind with the boundaries He created for sexuality? Why or why not? If you’ve given your life to Christ, who do you belong to? How does this affect the ways you use your body?

Worship

God, How do you want me to respond to this truth?

We each get to decide how we will respond to God and worship Him in this area of our lives. His path of purity affects how we dress, what we post on social media, what we look at on the internet, what we do on dates, and so much more. You get to make the choice of whether you want the scars of sexual immorality or the blessings of purity in your life. ~ How will you worship the Lord in this area? What do YOU choose?

1 Corinthians 6:18
“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.”
