It Starts with a Conversation with our Loved Ones During Quarantine
Wisdom
First, Seek Him...
Are YOU wise about what is good? Before you talk to your kids about wisdom and online safety, ask God if there’s any area of your life in which you need to be more wise. This may be regarding how you use the internet or something else. Seek Him today!
...Then Speak Him
Romans 16:19 ESV
“Your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil.”
WORD: God, what are You saying to me?
The job of parents is to protect your children from danger and train them to make wise choices. The job of kids is to obey your parents’ leadership and learn from them. This is how God designed home to happen. What does the Bible say your responsibility is in this today?
WHY: God, why does this Scripture matter?
In this season of mandatory school-at-home, kids must use the internet more than ever. Whether we’re using our phones, Ipads or computers, so much good can come from these devices but also so much evil. We want to be wise in how we use these in order to protect us – all of us – from evil. Do YOU want to be protected from evil? Whether you’re a kid or parent, what might evil look like in your situation?
WHAT: God, what else does Your Word say to me about this?
God mourned the foolishness of His disobedient children, saying “My people are foolish…they have no understanding. They are ‘wise’—in doing evil! But how to do good they know not” (Jeremiah 4:22). This could be true of us today. God’s people were “wise” in finding evil, but they didn’t know how to do what was right. We don’t want to be like those children who broke God’s heart. We want to be wise in what’s good and innocent in what’s evil. How does this apply to us in regards to going online and internet safety?
WORSHIP: God, how do You want me to respond to this truth?
As you obey your parents and choose wisdom, you’ll be protected from predators and even protected from yourself. Let’s honor God by talking about some boundaries to help all of us be wise in our online choices. Let’s write down our family “rules” for internet safety today
Romans 16:19 ESV
“Your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil.”
A Family Blessing
“May (you) be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15). Protect our family as we are online. In Jesus’ Name, amen!
