Family Disciple Me responds to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

It Starts with a Conversation with our Loved Ones During Quarantine

First, Seek Him...

During social isolation, selfishness can reign. Thing is, we may blame our selfishness on the quarantine instead of our hearts. Seek the Lord about what’s in your heart and what kindness He would have you show through your life in this season.

...Then Speak Him

Kindness begins in how we treat those we’re quarantined with and then extends to others God would have us bless. This may be our neighbors, elderly friends, immune compromised relatives, or even people we don’t know. Train the next generation to think about what kindness looks like in this pandemic
Proverbs 21:21 ESV
“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.”

WORD:  God, what are You saying to me?

Kindness is giving goodness and blessings to others. Our God is merciful, loving and kind, and He wants people to have these traits, too. His Word promises blessing for kindness. What kindness have you seen during this pandemic? What kindness have we shown to others during this pandemic?

WHY:  God, why does this Scripture matter?

In times of struggle, selfishness often takes control. There’s the saying, “Every man for himself” – and this is especially true when people hoard more than they need and hurt others to help themselves. Selfishness takes; kindness gives. In what way would God have us give today?

WHAT: God, what else does Your Word say to me about this?

God wants us to be kind. Ephesians 4:32 reminds us, “Be kind to one another.” 2 Timothy 2:24 reminds us, “A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone…and be patient with difficult people” (NLT). Kindness starts within our own home, how we treat each other here. Then kindness extends to others outside our home. What this looks like in this season will be unique because of social distancing. Still, what is God saying to you about kindness right now?

WORSHIP: God, how do You want me to respond to this truth?

“The fruit of the Spirit is…kindness…” (Galatians 5:22). We know that we are living for Jesus when kindness is one of the fruits of our lives. Let’s take a few minutes to talk about how we have seen each other show kindness during this quarantine.

Proverbs 21:21 ESV
“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.”

A Family Blessing

Lord God, help us to be kind! Even when times are hard, show us how to be good to others. Even when we’re stuck in quarantine and have to socially isolate, show us how to help others. In Jesus’ Name, amen!
