Family Disciple Me responds to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

It Starts with a Conversation with our Loved Ones During Quarantine

Feelings

First, Seek Him...

What’s going on inside you? Are you happy or sad during quarantine? Depressed or hopeful? Lonely or angry? Take a few moments for a personal gut check. Seek the Lord about what you are feeling today. He cares about what you’re going through, so talk to Him!

...Then Speak Him

As you think about your own feelings, guide your loved ones in a gut check. Intentionally listen to and care about what one another is feeling. Check on some friends or family who must quarantine by themselves and see how they’re doing. Feelings do matter, so honor God in this today
Romans 12:15 ESV
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”

WORD:  God, what are You saying to me?

God wants us to be watchful for how others feel. He wants us to care about their feelings and emotions, whether they’re happy or sad, rejoicing or weeping. This is a good time for us to stop and check on how each other is doing. How are you feeling right now? What’s your “high” and “low”?

WHY:  God, why does this Scripture matter?

Emotions can be pent up like a dam or poured out like a flood. We all have many emotions we’re experiencing right now in the pandemic and quarantine. Instead of either holding them in or exploding with them, let’s talk about them. What are some real emotions people do have right now? (Let’s make a list.) Which emotions do WE have right now?

WHAT: God, what else does Your Word say to me about this?

The Bible tells us, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). Scripture also says, “We urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all” (I Thessalonians 5:14). These two verses list 5 ways we can care about each other’s feelings. How can we do this for one another today? How can we do this for someone outside our home?

WORSHIP: God, how do You want me to respond to this truth?

God is so kind to pay attention to our feelings. King David worshipped God saying, “You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?” (Psalm 56:8 NKJV). Others praised God this way, saying, “He became their Savior. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them” (Isaiah 63:8-9). He cares so much for us, too! How will we praise Him for this? How can we honor Him by caring for others?

Romans 12:15 ESV
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”

A Family Blessing

Lord God, thank You for caring about our feelings, tears and emotions. Help us to care about others and lift them up, just like You encourage and carry us. In Your Name Jesus, amen!
