Family Disciple Me responds to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

It Starts with a Conversation with our Loved Ones During Quarantine

Encouragement

First, Seek Him...

We all feel the strain and stress right now, but God wants us to build each other up instead of taking out our stress and tearing others down. Are you an encouraging person during this pandemic? Seek the Lord about how you are living for Him.

...Then Speak Him

You can encourage those in your home, others on social media, even strangers at the grocery store. Look people in the eye, smile at them, offer encouraging words. Christ followers have an opportunity to build up other people in hard times, through Jesus’ power. Speak Him wherever you are today!

1 Thessalonians 5:11 CSB
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

WORD:  God, what are You saying to me?

In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, Paul, Sylvanus and Timothy wrote the church of Thessalonica about the disturbing times they were experiencing. It wasn’t an easy season, just like we’re not going through an easy season. Yet, in all times, God wants His people to speak His hope and encouragement into one another. These aren’t just positive thoughts and happy sayings. His Word is powerful and effective. Do any of us need hope and encouragement right now?

WHY:  God, why does this Scripture matter?

In difficult times, it’s easy to be critical, negative and tear each other apart. Our words and actions can become the destructive tools of the enemy. However, we have the power and authority in Jesus to do the opposite. We can “build one another up” through what we say, what we do, how we help and how we encourage. What type of person do you want to be today – someone who tears apart or builds up? What’s one practical way that you can do this?

WHAT: God, what else does Your Word say to me about this?

Romans 15:1-3 says, “Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves. Each one of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself. On the contrary, as it is written, ‘The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.’” Jesus endured the cross in order to build us up. How does Jesus’ example and sacrifice encourage us this week?

WORSHIP: God, how do You want me to respond to this truth?

We worship God by doing what He has called us to do. In Jesus’ Name, we build one another up; we encourage each other; we sacrifice for one another like He sacrificed for us. So, who does God want you to encourage today? Do you need to make a phone call, write a letter, do a video call? Is there an apology you need to make for being critical or negative. Let’s live for Jesus and build one another up today!!!

1 Thessalonians 5:11 CSB
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

A Family Blessing

Lord God, encourage our hearts with Your Word and Your example. Help us to worship You by encouraging and building one another up, in Your Name Jesus and for Your glory, this week and always, amen!
