It Starts with a Conversation with our Loved Ones During Quarantine
Creativity
First, Seek Him...
Our Creator fills us with creativity, and quarantine is a great time to call out these gifts. How are YOU being creative right now? Creativeness doesn’t mean you have to be crafty; creativeness means using your God-given gifts in your own unique way! Seek Him about this today!
...Then Speak Him
Exodus 35:31-32 ESV
“He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs…”
WORD: God, what are You saying to me?
God filled a man named Bezalel with special creativity to build His temple and glorify Him. Bezalel and his friend Oholiab led the people of Israel to sculpt, carve, build, embroider, engrave, weave, design and sew. The Spirit of God enabled them to do all these things with skill and workmanship. As Christ followers, we are filled with the Spirit of God, too. Did you know God’s Spirit gives us creative gifts, as well? What are some creative things you like to do?
WHY: God, why does this Scripture matter?
During quarantine, it’s easy to sit around and either do nothing or as little as possible. The people of Israel could have certainly done this during their “quarantine” in the desert. However, God wanted them to be creative, and He gave them leaders like Bezalel and Oholiab to teach them and call them to creativity. How have we been creative during quarantine? How can we inspire each other to be more creative?
WHAT: God, what else does Your Word say to me about this?
Creativity is sometimes listed amongst the spiritual gifts that God gives those who believe in Him. Without question, skill, intelligence and knowledge are from the Lord; He gives us the ability to grow in craftsmanship and artistry. James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father…” Our Creator gives us so many good gifts, including the ability to be creative. If a gift is something you receive and use, how have you done this with God’s gift of creativity in this season?
WORSHIP: God, how do You want me to respond to this truth?
When we are creative, we experience a satisfaction that reflects God’s satisfaction in creation. Genesis says, “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:31). Have you experienced this satisfaction during this season? In what ways can you use your creative gifts in the coming days? How can we encourage each other in this right now?
Exodus 35:31-32 ESV
“He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs…”
A Family Blessing
Father, Son and Spirit, fill us with special creativity during this season. Open our eyes to see what we can create for Your glory and our good. Amen!
